Marketing Identity: Talaria Footwear
Companies establish their identity in the marketplace through the use of a logo. While a brand and an identity are two different concepts, they are similar and each should be considered in the overall design experience. A logotype normally incorporates the name of a company within the design while sometimes the brand itself can be identified simply from its symbol, or graphic.
I was tasked with the development of a descriptive symbol that would relate to a shoe manufacturer that specialized in boots. Talaria Footwear garners its name after the mythological sandals worn by the Greek messenger god Hermes and his Roman equivalent Mercury; so, wings were utilized in several mock-ups before committing to the final design.
